Corporate History
With a background in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
and fifteen years of experience at Amada Co. Ltd., Carl Grosso
founded METALSOFT in 1985. Backed by venture capital from
Fred Johnston, a local businessman and partner of Grosso,
METALSOFT hired a brilliant young programmer to help develop
its first software product. Success came eight months later
when METALSOFT introduced FC2001, a CNC code modeler for
turret punch presses. Personal computers running FC2001 drastically
reduced programming time and eliminated errors in CNC programs
compared to the manual and tape-punch methods of the time.
The software revolution in the fabrication industry had begun.
While FC2001 continued to sell and established METALSOFT
as a major player in the industry, we did not rest. Our culture
of innovation led us to the development of the next generation
of CAM software, FabriCAM, shortly after FC2001 was introduced.
The first version of FabriCAM, a DOS-based, graphically oriented
G-code editor, was released in 1986. Soon after, METALSOFT
began development of FabriWIN to implement our goal of providing
of "integrated manufacturing solutions." Our culture
of innovation has led to many industry leading applications
and innovations, including:
-
FabriVISION - 1988 - the first
scan inspection machine for sheet metal industry
-
FabriWIN 16 - 1990 -The world's
first Windows-based sheet metal CAD/CAM application
-
FabriTRAK - 1992 - The first Enterprise
Resource Planning appllication developed specifically
for the sheet metal fabrication industry
-
FabriWIN - 1996 - Our industry-leading
CAD/CAM application is developed for the 32-bit Windows
environment
-
FabriBEND - 2002 - Real time simulation
of the bending process, virtually eliminating the rejection
of parts due to bending issues
-
Company-wide reorganization in
2004 to better meet the needs of the global sheet metal
fabrication industry
Since our modest beginnings in1985
with 4 employees, MetalSoft has grown to 45 employees in
U.S. and a world wide development organization that reaches
the U.S., Japan, China, India and Italy. Our culture of
innovation and our customer-centered business philosophy
will assure our continued success as the leading software
solution provider for the fabrication industry.
