METALSOFT, INC. SHOWCASES SHEETWORKS AT SOLIDWORKS WORLD 2005

Irvine, CA – January 12, 2005
– Metalsoft, Inc., developers of CAD/CAM and production control software, announced today that it will demonstrate Sheetworks at the seventh annual SolidWorks World 2005 Conference, being held from January 30th – February 2nd, 2005 in Orlando, Florida. SolidWorks World brings together designers, engineers, managers, and partners to discuss ideas, trends, and the technology shaping the future of mechanical design.

As a SolidWorks Solution Partner, Metalsoft has developed applications that integrate seamlessly with the SolidWorks software environment. This prevents the customer from having to jump from one application to another. The SheetWorks menu is integrated within the SolidWorks main menu allowing the customer direct access to features that previously may have been accessible only through multiple applications.

SheetWorks bridges the gap between CAD and CAM model files by associating attributes to each bend line, as the part model is unfolded. These associated attributes, which include bend deductions, inside radii and V-openings, affect the dimensioning of the part, and are carried forward with the CAD model as it is brought into the CAM environment. SheetWorks heals and stitches the CAD model, then prepares the model for BendCAM, which automatically performs the CAM programming, based on the assigned attributes.

“ SolidWorks technology allows Metalsoft customers to quickly and easily create sheet metal parts and prepare them for exporting using SheetWorks,” said Mike Zordan, Vice President of Metalsoft. “These tools have been constantly improved over the years and continue to make the modeling of 3D sheet metal parts easier. We are happy to participate in SolidWorks World 2005 and look forward to showcasing the software we have developed as part of our ongoing partnership with SolidWorks.”

SheetWorks allows customers to easily attach bending, forming, and processing information to a sheet metal model within SolidWorks. Then, that information will travel with the part along the production cycle, allowing other applications to quickly pull that information from the model and generate code to bring the part to fruition. These benefits mean increased production and profits for our customers.” said Brian Houle, director of SolidWorks Partner Program.
