Hardware Requirements


RAM

Small parts and assemblies (<500 components and <300 features)
- minimum 256MB, 384MB or more recommended.
Assemblies’ greater than 500 components and parts greater than 300 features,
- 512MB or more recommended.
Assemblies’ greater than 2500 components and parts greater than 1000 features,
- 1GB or more recommended.


Video

A tested OpenGL workstation graphics card and driver combination.

CPU

Intel® Pentium™, Intel® Xeon™, Intel® EM64T,
AMD® Athlon™, or AMD® Opteron™ (6) based computers.


Other

If you use Bills of Materials from previous releases or if you use Design Tables from any release, you must have Microsoft Excel 2000, 2002, or 2003.
If you are using the SolidWorks online help, or opening SolidWorks files from Internet Explorer, you must be using Internet Explorer version 6.0 or later.


Network

SolidWorks is tested only with Microsoft's Windows Networking and Active Directory network environments.
Novell networks and non-Windows based network storage devices are not tested or recommended.
TCP/IP network service is required for PDMWorks (client), PDMWorks Vault, and PDMWorks Advanced server.
