Frequently Asked Questions
FabriWIN FAQ
Network License Protect Server of FabriWIN /AP100US
1. During installation, you will be asked to set up the client/server,
or you can run “NetworkProtection.exe” from
the Installation CD. The installation will create a c:\metalsoftprotection\
network license server, and also register protectserver.exe.
2. You can use “protectserver -/RegServer” to
register the server manually in your computer, and “protectserver
-/UnregServer” to unregister the server. In order to
support network license for client computers, you must register
the protectserver in the server.
3. There might be some error messages showing up when you
run FW at the client computer:
Error
- System cannot find the path specified. [80070003]:
If you register your protectserver.exe, but you change the
folder name or file name, and then try to run FW at client
side.
Solution: Go to the folder where you put protectserver.exe,
and run “protectserver -/RegServer” again.
The Windows system will register protectserver again based
on
your new path.
Error - Class not registered [80040154]:
This
error message will show up when you didn’t register
protectserver.exe.
Solution: Go to the folder where you put protectserver.exe,
and run “protectserver -/RegServer” again. The
Windows system will register protectserver again based on
your new path.
Error - The protection block is not attached:
This
error message will happen when you don’t attach
FW block to the server, or your FW block has been damaged.
Solution: Please make sure your block attached to the server
computer, and also run FW at your server computer to see
if the block works or not.
Error - The RPC server is unavailable
[800706ba]:
Based
on Microsoft’s documents saying: A distributed
(RPC) application has tried to reach a server that is not
available. For instance, the server may be shut down, there
may be a network hardware problem, there may be no common
transports, or the server may not exist. This situation
usually happens when your client computer can not reach the
server
computer, or your RPC server of the server is stopped.
Solution:
First - Make sure in your win.ini, you correctly set up:
[FabriCAM]
networkprotection=1
ProtectionServerName=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (which is your Server’s
IP or Name)Second - Open a “Command Prompt” window
at the client computer.
Run “ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx” which is the server’s
IP address to see if the client computer can reach the
server.
Third - At the server, right-click “my computer” icon,
and select manage > services and applications > services.
Make sure the “Remote Procedure Call (RPC)” is
started.
II. Cursor Step Function Problem and Solution
1. The user types a value and then presses the <S> (Hot
Key to activate the Step feature). The Step feature is
used in both CAD and CAM to define pattern and part grids.a.
Question:
The Step function in CAD/CAM fails to function properly.
This is an intermittent problem that is dependent on the
operating system, mouse movements and the redraw/refresh
configuration for the monitor events. As a result the problem
is very difficult to address. Service and Support must
often address the problem on a case-by-case basis.
There are three possible solutions to this problem: The
first is to adjust the CursorStepDelay= value in the WIN.INI
file.
The second is to disable the Auto hide feature for the
Windows Taskbar. The second solution should only be tried
if the
first solution fails. The third solution involves selecting
a non-animated mouse pointer scheme The basic procedures
are outlined as follows:
Solution:
First - Adjust the CursorStepDelay = value
- Open the WIN.INI File.
- Locate the CursorStepDelay= command line in the [FabriCAM]
section.
- Select the current value and change it to 125 (Example:
CursorStepDelay=125
- Reboot the computer
- Open CAD/CAM and try the Step function once more. If
editing the CursorStepDelay= value does NOT solve the problem,
Try
the second Step.
Second – Disable the Auto Hide feature
- If the Taskbar is currently hidden, move the mouse pointer
towards the last known location of the Taskbar (usually
along the bottom of the screen) until the Taskbar displays.
- Right-click the Taskbar to open a shortcut menu. Select
Properties to open the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties
window.
- Remove the check mark from the Auto hide check box in
the General tab.
- Click Apply and then click OK. The Taskbar will now display
at all times on the screen.
- Reboot the computer.
- Open CAD/CAM and try the Step function.
Third - Use a Non-Animated Pointer Scheme.
- If the customer is using an animated cursor, ask him/her to try using the
default non-animated pointer scheme. This might or might not solve the problem.
Windows handles system events differently for animated and non-animated cursors.
- Open the Control Panel window and double-click the Mouse icon to open the
Mouse Properties window.
- Click the Pointers tab to activate the panel. Select a non-animated Scheme
from the drop-down list.
- Click Apply and then click OK.
III. Functionality Questions taken from FT database
My program is not generating subroutines,
what am I doing wrong?
Make sure your Use Subroutines and Macros On
is checked in the Sequence Info tab in the Machine Info
window.
How do I setup my system to use Multi-Tool?
Each machine has different methods of supporting Multi-Tools,
but for the most part it works the same. The user will first need to determine
what station will be used for MT. That station number will then be changed.
Example: If the MT is going in station 6, the user will change the station
number to 601. Then if it is an 8 station MT, the user will add 7 additional
stations and number them 602, 603…608. All of the over travels and
dead zones will be the same as the original station 6. Once this is set,
the driver
will then know to output the proper MT code.
NOTE: Amada machines simply use a different 3-digit station number. These
numbers will need to be added to the setup and the driver will use these
numbers for
the MT.
How do I use the Wilson Wheel?
The Wilson Wheel will work the same for all machines that support
this tool. A small rectangle tool will be used to simulate the Wheel. The
following steps will be used to setup the Wilson Wheel.
a. Add a very small Rectangle to the Tool inventory (.020 X .040).
b. In the Edit Tool window, select the Tool Info button.
c. Check the Add Additional Information to the Tool box.
d. Select the Punching Conditions button.
e. Check the Wilson Wheel option.
The tool will now be setup as a wheel tool. Assign the tool to the lines
and arcs and the driver will output the proper code for the Wilson Wheel.
1. New install for customer. Customer receives timeout error
for security block:
block
is not attached
Sentinel
driver must be manually installed prior to FW or AP install,
driver does not self install.
2. Upgrade install for customer of older than V7.
If
customer gets error upon install, block not recognized. Best
to use utility in Sentinel folder (SENTINEL\New Driver\cleanup\
SSDCleanup.exe) warm-boot,
try upgrade again, may need to manually install driver from (SENTINEL\New
Driver\Setup.exe) Warm-boot again.
0. Still unable to install driver, same process except try installing the
legacy driver if older PC (SENTINEL\New Driver\legacy\Setup.exe)
Still
no luck call support
3. Customer has finally installed his Upgrade, but cannot open software.
Go
to license manager found (if installed in default location,
C:\(AP100US)FabriWin\FwBlock.exe) Start, Programs, or all
programs, (AP100US, FabriWin) License Manager. Click
on Import License File, browse to location of license file (A: license12345.lic,
or C:\Documents and Settings\(PC USER NAME)\My Documents\ license12345.lic.
After updating the license file this should allow the customer to open
the software. Verify that 12345 is your Security block number.
Should also be found
on the block itself, as well as Block Serial Number in the license
Manager.
0. If still unable to run software after, may need to download and
run Superpro medic from Rainbow site, to verify block integrity
Still
cannot open or run call support.
